  This is the first time I have bought from Play.com but saw the phone on their website my Daughter wanted for Christmas (a Sony Xperia Play at £199.99, sim free and unlocked). It was a great price compared to other websites. So I quickly ordered, (first checking their site was secure of course) and before they ran out of stock. Afterwards I then read all the terrible reviews on here, so I thought here we go no Christmas present and one very disappointed Daughter on Christmas day! But my fears..

  Shockingly bad customer service although polite with website misinformation. I wanted to return an item as they sent me the wrong size. Went to my account and followed the instructions but couldn't print off the pre-paid returns label so telephoned customer services where i was informed that this item was not available for pre-paid postage (although it stated on website directly next to the item that this item is available for pre-paid returns). 5 phone calls and 3 hours later it's established that the only services available to return this item is to wait in all day for courier collection or to pay for it myself to be returned and then to send in my receipt of which they would then reimburse me. Was unclear whether i would get full money back on postage!!! At times wasn't quite sure if i was talking to an automated machine - got same response no matter what question i posed. Received apologies for my inconveniences but nothing else. I wish companies would take responsibilities for their inefficiencies. I definitely will not be buying from play.com again - life's too short
