  Received an e-mail in the morning from Play.com which had a fantastic offer on a Panasonic Viera 32" 1080p HD LCD tv over £100 cheaper than anyone else.
  
  Thought I would order it as it seemed like a complete bargain - at the time of ordering (9am) they were showing stock available - in fact they were still showing stock available at 1pm on the same day.
  
  Order was processed and I received an e-mail saying the standard thanks for your purchase, etc... item delivery 3-5 days.
  
  Checked the website the following day - status on my order page shows 'awaiting stock' ??
  
  E-mailed Play - got a generic e-mail that basically says we are currently awaiting stock of your item and will despatch the item once new stock arrives - you are free to cancel your order at any time.
  
  Did a GOOGLE search 'play.com awaiting stock' and found out that this is a fairly common theme - they pull this trick quite frequently and in every case it is exactly the same. A few people tried hanging on 'awaiting stock' but after 7 weeks they gave up and cancelled.
  
  Sent e-mail to Play asking when they were expecting stock to arrive - needless to say still received no reply after 3 days. Clearly they aren't expecting any stock - just don't have the decency to tell you.
  
  They are going to lose their VAT free status soon as well - so they will lose that market for CD's etc... The certainly won't be getting many customers due to

  Overall happy with play.com. Website is easy to understand and navigate. Prices are really good mostly better than anywhere else. Delivery takes a while but has always came in their suggested time of 3-5 days. But comes mainly towards the 5 day mark. - maybe just a personal experience.
  
  Would recommend to anyone looking to find a bargain. I also have used their MP3 downloads service and have found this faultless
